2001-Present - Turf City
1842
William Henry Macleod Read and his friends, a group of racing enthusiasts founded The Singapore Sporting Club situated at the old RaceCourse, now known as Farrer Park.

1924
The Singapore Sporting Club changed its name to Singapore Turf Club. Also, due to inadequate facilities and space, a search for a new location was embarked. Finally, 244 acres of land was bought from Bukit Timah Rubber Estate for the new RaceCourse.

1933
The Singapore Turf Club moved to its new premises after the Bukit Timah RaceCourse costing $3 million was opened by the governor of Singapore, Sir Cecil Clementi on 15 April 1933.

1941-1946
During the Japanese Occupation, racing came to a halt. The Grandstand and surrounding buildings were converted into hospitals; stables and syces' quarters were turned to military car parks.

1947
After the war ended, the committee spent 2 years repairing and refurbishing the buildings and fields. The Bukit Timah RaceCourse was finally reopened in 1947 where racing resumes.

1951-1959
Moving tycoon Tan Sri Dr Runme Shaw owned Shaw Stables within 70 horses. Mr Lim Chong Pang, son of pineapple and rubber king, Mr Lim Nee Soon was also a familiar face on the fields of Bukit Timah RaceCourse.

1960
In July, members of public were allowed through the turnstiles for a fee of $5, which in the past only ordinary members, subscribing members and owners were allowed.

1972
On 20 February 1972, England's Queen Elizabeth II visited Bukit Timah RaceCourse with Prince Philip and Princess Anne. The 3 members of the Royal Family gave away the hefty money of $35,000.

1981
The North Grandstand costing $18 million was completed to accomodate increasing crowd. This brings the total capacity of 2 Grandstand to 60,000.

1990
On 7 October 1990, Ex-President Wee Kim Wee and The First Lady was on their first official visit. Ex-President Wee also received a special replica of the Club's bronze horse statue from Mr E W Barker, Chairman of the Club.

2001-Present
The Singapore Turf Club moved to new premises at Kranji in August to enjoy better and well-equipped facilities. The Bukit Timah site was transformed into Turf City. With more than 2,000 carpark lots, this 56-ha constitutes 6 sectors; Retail Mall, Auto Emporium Market, Food & Beverages, Seafood Market, Furniture Mall and Sports Complex.

Retail Mall: More than 50 specialty shops for your shopping pleasure.

Auto Emporium Market: Over 100 second-hand car dealers, parallel importers, local agents (new car) under one roof.

Food & Beverages: Wide variety selection ranging from economic-priced to inclusive menus to alfresco dinning.

Seafood Market: Choose from a wide variety of live seafood from the fish tanks and have your palate served the way you like while enjoying the mesmerising grandeur of the former Turf Club.

Furniture Mall: Creating your ideal home is that simple when you are spoilt with choices of great quality furnishing.

Sports Complex: Spanning 8 soccer fields big, the sports complex which would be ready by year 2003 would be used for sports facilities as well as big scale events.
